Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QA/QC Specialist to oversee and maintain our laboratory’s quality assurance and quality control programs. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, optimizes analytical accuracy, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within our lab.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the laboratory’s QA/QC policies and procedures in compliance with EPA, NELAC, ISO 17025, and other regulatory standards.
  • Conduct internal audits, proficiency testing, and corrective action investigations to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Review and validate analytical data, reports, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain data integrity.
  • Train laboratory personnel on quality assurance protocols, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of EPA, NELAC, and ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and data review procedures.

SUMMARY

The Sample Custodian is responsible for the categorizing, storing, and disposing of liquid and solid laboratory samples and laboratory wastes.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Full time position for 40hrs/week, Monday – Friday.
  • Have a working knowledge of the A & B QA Plan.
  • Perform tasks and maintain records as assigned by supervisor, QA, or management.
  • Ensure all work generated is in compliance with the A & B QA Plan.
  • Assure that the housekeeping in work areas is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and to minimize fire and safety hazards.
  • Be able to understand and follow EPA and other environmental protocols and procedures.

SUMMARY

The Sample Custodian is responsible for the categorizing, storing, and disposing of liquid and solid laboratory samples and laboratory wastes.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Full time position for 40hrs/week, Monday – Friday.
  • Have a working knowledge of the A & B QA Plan.
  • Perform tasks and maintain records as assigned by supervisor, QA, or management.
  • Ensure all work generated is in compliance with the A & B QA Plan.
  • Assure that the housekeeping in work areas is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and to minimize fire and safety hazards.
  • Be able to understand and follow EPA and other environmental protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure that all work is generated in compliance with policies and the A & B QA Plan.
  • Perform all work according to written SOPs.
  • Provide the QA Manager, Laboratory Manager, Supervisor and/or Technical Manager with immediate notification of quality problems.
  • Assist with other laboratory tasks including, but not limited to washing glassware, weighing/measuring samples, and other basic tasks under supervision.
  • Ensure all samples are received and properly stored.
  • Ensure every sample is safely distributed to the appropriate lab for analysis.
  • Assist with the proper disposal of expired samples.
  • Janitorial/minor maintenance duties and responsibilities including general lab cleaning and other duties assigned.

The Sample Custodian must have good working habits, work well with others, be technically conscientious, communicate well, be able to stay on task and complete work on schedule, be able to work independently as well as on a team, and promote the principles and professionalism of the company.

EDUCATION

Minimum of High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of laboratory experience preferred.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE SKILLS

Must be computer literate and experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). Proficient in the Windows environment and use of Internet E-mail.

OTHER SKILLS

  • Must be organized
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills (English)
  • Must manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work scheduled hours, as required
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs
  • Must be able to handle hazardous materials appropriately and safely

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work will occur in a laboratory and office environment. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment including, but not limited to eye safety glasses, gloves, and other personal protective equipment. The employee may be required to stand, walk or move to various locations around the office and laboratory. This includes but is not limited to shelving and retrieving samples from walk-in coolers. At the office, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

WORK AUTHORIZATION

This position requires proof of United States citizenship or authorization to work in the United States.

UNPLANNED ACTIVITIES

This position requires flexibility and adaptability. There will be tasks assigned that are outside of this job description from time to time.

DRUG TESTING POLICY

Selected candidates will be required to take a Drug Test prior to starting working with the company. The company will pay for the drug test cost. If tested positive, the company will not submit a job offer to the selected candidate.

Environmental Specialist

Conduct environmental testing and analysis of air, water, soil and waste samples for industrial clients.

Position requires Bachelors / equivalent in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field and 1 year
of experience with GC/MS, GC/FID, GC/ECD, GC/NPD, GC/TCD, GC/MS/ATD, ICP/MS, and HPLC
instruments, Agilent software, LIMS software, calibration of auto samplers and sample concentrators,
analysis of volatile organics in ground water, waste water, soil, and sludge.
